Don't Say Goodbye

I need to ask you something,

and I'll give it one good try,

just don't say that you're leaving me,

please, just don't say goodbye.

I don't understand your love,

three months ago it would never end,

now all I've left is a broken heart,

it's broken in two, it'll never mend.

I love you now and forever,

I want you for the end of my days,

I love you more than it's possible,

I love you in so many different ways.

When I see you out,

I just want to hold you all night long.

How can something that was so good,

all of a sudden seem so wrong ?

 I want to be with you,

I want it how it used to be,

and I'm really hurting so bad,

you must realise, can't you see ?

I'm sorry that I'm just a normal guy,

I'm not a movie or a basketball star,

but that don't matter that much to me,

because I believe you are who you really are.

And all I've got to give,

is my love, understanding and devotion,

no flash cars, no front row seats,

but no tired and second hand emotion.

I know I'm not that perfect,

but life ain't no rose bowl dream,

and when we were together,

everyone knew, we truly were a team.

And do you know the tragic thing?

(and this is so very hard for me to tell),

but I just want you to be standing there,

every time someone rings my door-bell.

And all that I'm saying,

is that I want you back you tonight,

don't worry about what's behind us,

because everything will be just right.

And I really hope this works,

because I want this more than anything in my life,

I want you, Sarah, to get old with me,

I want you, Sarah, to be my wife.

And I'll hold my torch for you,

but I don't know long unfanned flames can last,

so if you want to keep the fires burning,

please hurry up and break the glass.
