HURTING

Lori wrote:

I write poetry also however the situation that I am going to tell you
about leaves me without a good way to say how I feel, so I thought that
a poem of yours may help.

Well I had this best guy friend, Walter. He and I used to hang out 24/7
and I'm not exaggerating. We were even going to get an apartment
together. Well we were suppose to only be friends but fell into some
deeper feeling and did some things we shouldn't have done. Not anything
too bad and nothing life changing or that would hurt anyone else. Well
to be honest we just liked each other and had some make out sessions but
nothing further. Well this was all in spite of the fact that he had a
fiance who was pregnant. Well his family did not really like her and
wanted me to steal him from her something which I would not do because
we were friend also. His aunt told him to dump me and her and get
his own place to live. He made a lot of life altering decisions very
fast and basically and literally overnight--one day we were fine and the
next he was changing everything. Well he dumped me as is best friend and dumped his fiancé also. Though he and her were bound to break up
anyway. Well now its been two months and I have been working on healing my broken heart because I truly cared about him and even loved him (but I don't think that I want him to know that I loved him but I think he may have felt the same.) Anyway he called and apologized and wants to be friends again. I had a hard time because his new girlfriend is ok but I don't think that she likes me but anyway he wants to be friends and I do forgive him and want to be friends again but I also want him to
understand that if I decide to be his friend again then he cant hurt me
again like this because I am still very hurt now. I want to send him a
birthday card in early Oct (Oct 7 is the birthday) and I want to include a poem. Can you help?

Thanks Lori

HURTING

We used to hang together,
thought that you were just a friend.
Strange how life can work out,
strange how some journeys end.

We grew deep feelings,
and some things were meant to be.
A room with a bed,
a growing silence and me.

But there was someone else,
in fact there was two.
But you did what you did,
just did what you had to do.

So we were on the outer,
on the shelf with no way in.
Broken hearts a mending,
just trying anew to begin.

And then you called me,
just like that, out of the blue.
You said that you were sorry,
what's a grieving girl to do ?

I truly cared for you,
maybe it was something stronger.
Can't hold this pain inside,
can't hold it any longer.

So I'll come back to you,
I've done all my crying.
But don't you ever hurt me again,
don't even think of trying.

Lori kindly replied:
Thank you for the lovely poem. It is very good and very straight forward and honest. I hope that I have the courage to give it to him. You may publish the story on your website. You can even use the real names if you want to. I just wanted to let you know that he did call me again and told me that he got married. i thought it kind of sudden but wished him the best and he asked if I would still be his friend. So I told him to call me whenever and I would be ok to chat with him every now and then. And so that is how it will be, I guess.

Thanks Again, Lori
