I dedicated this poem to my Mum on her 70th birthday, I don't think she was too impressed, I think she took it personally...
 
I did a similar thing for some friends on their 40th birthday, and they weren't too impressed either !
 
Funny, I liked the poem....
 
I've Discovered That....
 
I've finally got my head together,
and now my body is falling apart.
And I started out with nothing,
how come I'm still at the start ?
 
I wish the buck stopped here,
'cos I could certainly do with a few !
And I went to school to become a wit,
but I only got half way through.
 
If you're up to your neck in trouble,
someone will throw a bucket of ----.
And if all is not lost,
then please tell, where is it ?
 
If God wanted me to touch my toes,
he would have put them on my thighs.
And it is easier to get old,
than it is to become wise.
 
It was all so different,
before they changed everyfin'.
And it's hard to make a comeback,
if you've never, ever bin.
 
When you reach your dreams,
it is not that long before,
the dream becomes normality,
and it's time to dream once more.
 
I have learnt that nostalgia,
isn't what it used to be.
And it's not the pace of life,
but the full stop that's worrying me !
 
When you're holding all the cards,
everybody else goes and plays chess.
And if you start digging holes,
you can end up in a mess.
 
A rut and a grave are similar,
the difference comes down to fate.
And that being too healthy,
just extends the expiry date.
 
So that's it - all reports are in,
I'm sorry, life is officially unfair,
but now I'm absent minded,
I just forget that I was there !
